I had another post written out, but I just didn’t like it for right now. I wanted to keep on with the clog posts, after all that may be what you’re here for. Giving you my thoughts on my Bryr Chloe and Emma T-Strap shoes.

I found Bryr after looking for style accounts on Instagram that loved their wooden shoes and immediately fell in love. The Bryr color palette is neutral but very playful and their styles are a bit more modern than most clog brands. Very chic, simple and California-cool. I was sold. After a solid year of admiring their shoes, I finally pulled the plug during one of their sample sales in mid-March…

Emma T-Strap High Heel in Fennel

Ugly green as I like to call it - think chartreuse but a bit more sallow - is one of my favorite colors to wear (I still regret selling my Eileen Fisher cropped sweater in this color but I digress). It’s so versatile, goes with nearly anything which you may not think, and adds some interest to the otherwise neutral-ish palette I usually wear. Fennel encapsulates everything I love about the color, along with being available on a clog, I couldn’t say no.

I got these on a deep discount, as I believe they are what Bryr considers a B-stock product. They seem pretty perfect to me. But let’s take a moment to talk about the shoe.. After much hemming and hawing about the size, I went with my traditional clog size of 7 (Bryr no longer uses European sizing, but for reference I am a 37 in most other brands). I am a 6.5, with a flat, mid-wide foot. I also hate when clogs are too tight in the toe box. I researched their sizing, I swear I must have read their size chart info like 16 times, but just went with what I knew (as having a wider foot does not always equate to the shoe fitting right). I now kind of regret this after purchasing a second pair. I do love the color, the heel height and base width. There’s plenty of room in the toe box (yay!). Only down fall is because of the size being too big, the strap isn’t as secure as I would like. I don’t find it uncomfortable that my foot falls too far forward although there is an ugly amount of space in the back.

Update: after tossing these on a few more times after purchasing the Chloe's in my true Bryr size, they have been sold. I love the color so much, and will reinvest in Fennel in a different style and size.

After my first foray into Bryr I reached out after I placed my order for a quick consult - their CS is fab! - and figured that, yes, a 6 would have been a better option, I could not return because they were final sale.

When they launched their summer capsule collection, the colors were fabulous and I fell in love with Agave (so much so, I painted my kitchen the closest color I could find). I love a closed toe clog, and the Chloe’s were my first pick for Bryr - but you can’t always get what you want in a sample sale. I had placed my pre-order, first for the Suzie Spanish Toe as I missed the closed toe options. Again not my first choice, but I thought the style was cute in Suzie and not something I already had so I was fine, I just needed the color. To describe agave, it is the perfectly worn mid tone blue denim with just a hint of grey. I think it’s a bit more classy than what most companies call agave. I do love it!

Now, with Bryr they are a small manufacturer and everything is made to order - which requires a wait, if instant gratification is your thing, this isn’t the line for you. From the time I placed my order to when they shipped was about 8 weeks, but I was lucky enough to get my style changed after a quick IG message to their customer service team, as they released agave for a second time! WOO! I love how the piece of leather wraps around the back of the shoe, such a subtle detail but it definitely makes Chloe stand out. I do find the leather in Agave to be a bit rigid compared to Fennel but that could be from the dye process. Both are in a nubuck suede which I adore, as it molds so easily to the foot.

Pros:

-Great color options even within their core line

-EXCELLENT customer service

-Well packaged and minimally plastic free (shoes are wrapped in plastic incase they get wet).

-Free returns with full priced products.

-4 Free color swatches

Cons:

-Waiting for your shoes to arrive!

Overall wear:

Honestly, if I am spending more than $200 on a pair of shoes, I am going to WEAR them. Not for special occasions or when its nice out, nearly every day they are on my feet. I water the flowers in these, go grocery shopping in the rain in them, whatever it is, I am going to put on my shoes that I adore and make myself happy.

Both pairs have worn well, although I have not had them long. Break in time was short without any blisters to note. There’s markings on the leather which I am ok with. The wood, however does need to be oiled on my fennel pair.

I will say that the size 6 felt a bit snug at first, but they have stretched out. Do size down in the high heel options (can’t comment on mid heels as I don’t wear those).

Would I buy another pair of Bryr? ABSOLUTELY! I have the platforms on my list (haven’t settled on a style yet but maybe the Norma) and a pair of Sofie Booties in possibly clay or pebble. I love them so very much, find them easy to style and extra comfortable.

TLDR; you need these shoes!

Until next time,

-Jessika
