By Egreis Review

Hi folx. Back here today with a review on by Egreis (clearly as the title states). I know there are so many brands on instagram now, some of which seem shady as f*ck, so hopefully this helps you when making a purchasing decision.

*Aside: I know I enjoy a good thrift purchase and trying to shop second hand when I can, but I also love to support small business and women owned companies. I am not opposed to fast fashion, but limit my consumption to things I will use for a long time.

A little background, BYE is a women owned brand. Launched in 2018, the brand encompasses sizes XS to XXL and is "committed to creating beautiful designs for women of all sizes, race, sexual orientation and gender orientation. We believe every woman deserves to feel good and express beauty in her own way." Long time follower of the creator Egreis and I finally jumped on board to make a very out of the box purchase for me - a crop top, in not 1 but 3 colors. (Her designs are a bit more glam/sexy than what I am usually drawn too, nearly all pieces are beautiful they just aren't my personal style.)

The Margo Top

I am a casual girl through and through. I love a good basic top that I can wear a multitude of ways. This top was first released in brown, admittedly not my favorite color to wear. So I wrote it off. A few weeks back they added the color in a pastel green called sage, which I adore. I added both to cart, brown was something missing from my closet in a top, so I took a shot. The “sage” color is actually marked blue on the package, which is interesting. It’s a very nice sea foam/sage green. But I feel like it could pair well with both navy or olive (I wear more olive tones) depending on an outfit. Initially this was the color that drew me to the item.

Overall, color me impressed.

First impressions: fabric is super soft and buttery. Ribbing is a nice detail and can’t really be felt (hate those thicker ribbed fabrics that you can sometimes feel). Stretchy always a plus. Very nice quality for the price. Marked dry clean only. Hoping they will wash well on delicate cycle. Garment is well constructed over all.

A week later, they introduced this top in black, I had to have it. I placed another order and emailed them asking to have the items shipped together (will get to shipping in a minute), didn't get a reply but my items were included in the same shipment. I mostly asked for items to arrive together to limit plastic waste. Black with the white buttons is very cool. Love the scalloped/ lettuce hem on all of the tops I purchased. Under-stated but it adds a touch of femininity. Good sleeve length too, hits right about mid-upper arm, for me this is perfect because I am *ah-hem* buff.

Two small cons about this whole experience -- shipping took a little while and their quantities are limited, as I am writing this most sizes of this top are sold out. Ship time truthfully was not that big of a con, as the company was moving offices at the time I placed my order. Yet when processed and shipped it arrived to me within 5 days. Not bad for a small company. Also, if you are interested in something, you do need to grab it while it's available.

Overall, I feel like these were worth the $29 price. They are wonderfully constructed and will remain in my closet for quite some time. At 33, I didn't think I'd ever purchase a crop top (I previously thought they were dumb), but I am glad I have the versatility now that I didn't know I was somehow missing out on. ;)
